Histology Technician III – Developmental Biology
About this role
Histologist
Performs histology and immunohistochemistry in a certified, clinical environment.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Prepares histology sections by processing tissue and embedding, cutting, and staining prepared sections.
- Prepares and changes solutions and reagents.
- Performs automated and manual immunohistochemistry assays.
- Applies standard operating procedures and protocols under the direction of the medical director, laboratory manager, or higher-level technologist.
- Troubleshoots procedural and technical problems.
- Performs data entry of patient and specimen information and carefully documents all assays.
- Maintains supply and chemical inventories.
- Complies with all regulatory requirements for patient testing and documentation with established safety procedures.
- Ensures lab conditions and equipment are properly cleaned and maintained and records kept in accordance with established procedures.
- Acts as a technical resource for students, trainees and residents.
- Assists supervisor with other duties and special projects as needed.
Working Conditions: Job Location/Working Conditions
- Work is performed in a clinical laboratory with exposure to tissues and chemical hazards.
- Must be physically able to wear protective equipment.

Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree or combination of education and/or experience may substitute for minimum education.

Salary Range: $26.25 – $39.36 / Hourly The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University.
