Postdoctoral Fellow Opportunity in NYC
About this role
Postdoctoral Position – Cancer Cell Cycle Biology and Therapeutic Resistance
The Yang Lab at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, part of the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center, is recruiting a postdoctoral fellow.
We study how cancer cells regulate cell cycle entry, and how they adapt to escape targeted therapies without acquiring new mutations. Our approach combines live single-cell imaging with fluorescent biosensors, CRISPR functional genomics, and patient-derived organoid and in vivo tumor models. Active projects span breast cancer, melanoma, and lung cancer, and include work on Rb and E2F regulation, CDK4/6 inhibitor resistance, and rewiring of RAS and MAPK signaling under therapy.
We are looking for a motivated scientist with:
– A PhD, or expected completion soon, in cell biology, cancer biology, molecular biology, or a related field
– At least one first-author publication
– A genuine interest in mechanistic cancer research
Experience with quantitative imaging, CRISPR functional genomics, or mammalian cancer models is an advantage. Candidates with a strong foundation in cell cycle regulation in any model system are also welcome, including those without prior cancer-specific experience.
We offer a collaborative environment with access to outstanding imaging and genomics core facilities, close ties to translational cancer research at Columbia, and support for fellowship applications. Subsidized housing is available to postdocs through Columbia Residential.
To apply, please send a CV, a brief statement connecting your background and interests to our research program, and contact information for three references to [email protected].
