The Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics conducts research in epidemiology and biostatistics across a broad range of areas within biomedical science. The department is among the largest of its type in Europe and has especially strong research profiles in psychiatric, cancer, reproductive, pediatric, pharmaco, genetic, and geriatric epidemiology, eating disorders, precision medicine, and biostatistics. Part of the success of our department is due to our collaborative spirit where one factor is that researchers at the Department share and co-finance common resources (e.g., IT and an applied biostatistics group). The department is situated at campus Solna.

The research group conducts international etiological research focusing on gestational age, autism, and psychiatric diseases and related conditions and causes. The group's core competencies include biostatistics and epidemiology utilizing Swedish and Nordic health registers.

Your mission

The successful candidate will contribute to research activities encompassing model development, implementation, and large-scale data processing of registry and health data from Taiwan, Sweden, and other Nordic countries. You will work closely with researchers in statistics, epidemiology, psychiatry, and biomedicine and support the development and evaluation of pharmacoepidemiological methods for etiologically relevant applications in pediatric areas.

Your duties will include:

  • Acquiring and integrating knowledge about Taiwan's national health registry data into a Swedish context.
  • Establishing and maintaining methodologies for joint processing and extraction of insights that arise when combining different data sources.
  • Practically comparing results between two healthcare systems – Sweden and Taiwan – and identifying similarities and differences.
  • Developing statistical models and analytical approaches for pharmacoepidemiological studies.
  • Documenting and reporting research methods and results for publications and internal reports.

    The position is a fixed-term employment for six months.

    Your profile

    The applicant is expected to have the following competencies and experience:

    • Basic experience working in Linux environments.
    • Good knowledge of SAS, R or Python for data analysis.
    • Experience with version control tools, such as Git.
    • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
    • Strong communication skills in English (written and spoken).
    • Practical hand-on experience with Taiwan's claims data, survey or registry data.
    • Demonstrated experience in cross-national collaboration, multi-source data integration, record linkage, and international data analysis. Basic experience with pharmacoepidemiological methods.

      Meriting Qualifications:

      • Experience with statistical modeling, probability theory, or biostatistics.
      • Experience with Nordic registry data (Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway).
      • International and interdisciplinary research experience.
      • Language proficiency in Mandarin/Chinese).
      • Knowledge in computer science or machine learning.
      • Experience in advanced pharmacoepidemiological methods
