Data Scientist Target Identification
About this role
Pursue Progress, Discover Extraordinary
Better is out there. Better medications, better outcomes, better science. But progress doesn't happen without people – people from different backgrounds, in different locations, doing different roles, all united by one thing: a desire to make miracles happen. So, let's be those people.
Data Scientist Target Identification
Location: Waltham, MA.
As Data Scientist – Bioinformatics within our team, Computational Target Identification, you'll turn complex biological questions into the computational tools that shape the future of vaccine discovery. Ready to get started?
In Vaccines, you'll help advance prevention on a global scale – and shape the future of immunization. Join the engine of Sanofi's mission — where deep immunoscience meets bold, AI-powered research.
Our team, Computational Target Identification, is part of the broader global Data and Computational Science (DCS) organization. Our team's primary objective is to leverage cutting-edge computational approaches to uncover and prioritize vaccine targets, directly contributing to the advancement of Sanofi's drug discovery pipeline.
In this role, you'll act as the critical link between experimental biologists and computational teams, applying your expertise in bioinformatics and data science applied to microbiology to guide critical scientific decisions. You'll independently build the analyses, databases, and dashboards that keep vaccine projects moving forward with confidence.
Join the engine of Sanofi's mission — where deep immunoscience meets bold, AI-powered research. In R&D, you'll drive breakthroughs that could turn the impossible into possible for millions.
Main responsibilities:
- Investigate bioinformatics and data science approaches to assess and prioritize vaccine targets and antigen selection that meet the evolving analytical needs of vaccine projects.
- Design and apply bioinformatics and data science methods — including bacterial comparative genomics, phylogeny, functional prediction, omics data analysis — to establish robust evidence of association and causality between infections and diseases.
- Develop and maintain bioinformatics tools, pipelines, and databases that support antigen target identification and selection.
- Interpret and communicate scientific findings clearly to both computational and experimental colleagues, contributing to publications, reports, and internal presentations.
- Coordinate cross-functional project activities with Vaccines R&D data and digital teams as well as broader Sanofi stakeholders, defining action plans and ensuring steady project progression.
