Research Assistant in single cell method development and immune regulation

🏛️ Karolinska Institutet 📍 Sweden 🗓️ Posted 14 hours, 42 minutes ago

About this role

Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research? Join the research group of Sophie Bensing at the Department of Medicine, Solna, Division of Experimental Endocrinology based at the Centre for Molecular Medicine (CMM). Our group combines and develops novel single cell genomics approaches to understand how transcriptional regulation and alternative splicing shape immune cell states, with a particular focus on T-cell regulation, endocrine organs and autoimmune disease. We are particularly interested in how immune cells respond immediately to stimulation and how these early molecular events may shape later cell fate and functional outcomes. We are looking for 1-2 research assistants that will work at the interface of experimental and computational biology, single-cell technologies and immunology in a collaborative, method-driven research environment. Your mission As a research assistant, you will be tasked with providing experimental and practical support for ongoing projects within multi-omic method development and time-course and pertubation focused experiments untangling how immediate response might drive transient cell states and fates. Main responsibilities: - Process, prepare and quality control for single-cell transcriptomics experiments as well as RNA extraction, cell culture, according to established protocols - Assist with analysis of single cell sequencing data - Organize experimental data, maintain accurate laboratory records and contribute to preliminary analysis - Collaborate with team members, present progress in group meetings and support routine laboratory operations  Your profile We are looking for 1-2 enthusiastic, motivated, and collaborative early-career research assistants with an interest in experimental biomedical research, single cell methods and transcriptional regulation. You should be well organized, eager to learn and comfortable working with biological samples and established protocols. Required qualifications: - A Master’s degree in Biomedicine, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biotechnology, or a related field, or an equivalent degree expected to be completed before the start of employment - Documented hands-on experience in a biological or biomedical laboratory, including relevant thesis research - Ability to follow experimental protocols precisely and maintain structured laboratory records - Good communication skills in English, both spoken and written - Ability to work independently on assigned tasks and collaborate effectively with colleagues Meritorious qualifications: - Experience with one ore more of the following: RNA extraction, cell culture, FACS sorting, single cell RNA-seq, CRISPR assays, spheroid/organoid cultures, and animal work - Familiarity with single-cell transcriptomics, sequencing sample preparation or basic bioinformatics - Experience presenting scientific findings or contributing to multidisciplinary research  What do we offer? A creative and inspiring environment with wide-ranging expertise and interests. Karolinska Institutet is one of the world's leading medical universities.
