Research Technician (Internal Applicants only)
About this role
Research Technician
We are seeking a Research Technician to join a translational research group developing CAR-T cell therapies for myeloid malignancies, with a particular focus on myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs).
The successful candidate will process and bank patient samples, including apheresis products, peripheral blood and bone marrow samples, while supporting a range of laboratory activities including T-cell culture, CAR-T cell production, flow cytometry and functional assays. You will maintain accurate sample and laboratory records, support biobanking activities, and contribute to the day-to-day management of the laboratory.
Working closely with clinical and academic colleagues across UCL and UCLH, this role offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience in cellular immunotherapy and translational cancer research.
This position is funded until 30 March 2027 in the first instance. Applications should include both a CV and a cover letter. In your cover letter, please explain how you meet the essential and desirable criteria outlined in the person specification.
We welcome applications from all candidates. Please note that applicants requiring Skilled Worker sponsorship should be aware that this role is not normally considered eligible for sponsorship under current UK immigration rules. Applicants who would require sponsorship to take up this role should be aware that UCL is therefore unlikely to be able to sponsor an appointment to this post.

- Excellent organisational and record-keeping skills.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow protocols accurately.
- The ability to plan work effectively around patient and clinic schedules.
- A collaborative approach and enthusiasm for working in a research environment.
Experience of flow cytometry, immunology techniques, cellular therapies, or Human Tissue Act and biobank governance requirements would be advantageous.
As well as the exciting opportunities this role presents, we also offer some great benefits, including:
- 41 days' annual leave (27 days annual leave plus 8 bank holidays and 6 closure days)
- Defined benefit pension scheme
- Cycle to Work scheme and season ticket loan
