We are part of the chemical reagent development team at Roche Diagnostics (Research and Reagent Design, RRD). Our passion lies in precision: we are responsible for the functional evaluation and optimization of workflows that form the foundation of modern diagnostics. Our team currently consists of 14 dedicated colleagues. We see ourselves as the link between chemistry and biology and work in a dynamic, young environment at the interface of research and production.

Your Role in the Team

As a Research Scientist, you play a key role in the development of our sequencing technology: you are responsible for the precise execution and optimization of SBX workflows. You work closely with your and other teams to transform experiments into measurable sequencing successes and thus contribute significantly to the technological innovation power of our team.

Responsibilities

  • You plan and conduct complex series of experiments in the field of Xpandomer synthesis independently.
  • You prepare complex buffers and reagent solutions, operate our modern SBX instruments, and ensure the seamless integration of innovative chemistry and highly specialized sequencing technology.
  • You evaluate complex sequencing data, interpret the results in the context of chemical formulation, and actively contribute your findings to team and project planning.
  • You document your experimental procedures and results independently and in accordance with quality management standards (DIN-ISO) – an essential basis for our industrial research.
  • You act responsibly in compliance with all occupational safety and environmental regulations and support the team in the care of our specialized laboratory equipment.

    Qualifications

    • You have successfully completed your studies (Master of Science) in chemistry (focus on organic/bioorganic chemistry), biochemistry, molecular biology, or a comparable field, or you have collected several years of professional experience in a relevant field after your training as a chemical laboratory assistant (a doctorate is expressly not required for this position).
    • You have solid knowledge in organic chemistry and molecular biology and are eager to apply this in the NGS environment.
    • You are confident in handling statistical data processing and enjoy structuring complex measurement results.
    • You have ideally already gained initial experience with DNA chemistry, synthesis procedures, or sequencing technologies.
    • You communicate fluently and persuasively in German and English, work enthusiastically in a team, and exchange ideas effortlessly with all colleagues.

This position is limited to 2 years.

      Your Application

Practically: Please upload only your resume online. At the current time, we do not require a cover letter, certificates, or similar documents.

We look forward to your application!
