About this role
Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?
The Division of Infectious Diseases performs research and education in close collaboration with the Karolinska University Hospital. The research teams address a wide range of infectious diseases using clinical, epidemiological and experimental approaches.
The Sundling Research group focuses on understanding the immune response to different pathogens with the aim to find biomarkers to better distinguish them on a molecular level. We are now recruiting a research assistant for a project focusing on experimental immunology and biobanking to investigate how the immune system is affected by infection with Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb). The studies involve both experimental lab work, handling of clinical samples, and biobanking.
Your mission
You will be responsible for supporting project students, sample biobanking and updating inventories, and perform experimental work to support and develop ongoing studies. The tasks will also include analysis and visualization of large datasets.
Your profile
You should hold a master of science or equivalent in the field of microbiology, biology, or biomedicine. You should have knowledge and practical experience of working with cells and antibodies. Prior experience with Luminex (or similar), flow cytometry, and qPCR are meriting. Experience with bioinformatic analysis of immunological datasets, using R is advantageous. Previous work with infectious diseases is meriting.
You need to be well-organized and able to work independently. The project is pursued in an interdisciplinary environment including collaborations with several international research groups. Good collaborative skills are therefore a requirement and personal suitability an important factor. Fluency in English is mandatory, and a basic understanding of Swedish is advantageous.
