Postdoctoral Research Scientist
About this role
The Concepcion laboratory at Columbia University Irving Medical Center seeks a full-time Postdoctoral Research Scientist to join a growing research team focused on epigenetic deregulation in lung cancer. Our laboratory is interested in understanding how alterations in chromatin state shape tumor cell fate throughout tumor evolution. Areas of investigation include: 1) understanding how mutations in chromatin regulators alter the chromatin landscape to facilitate malignant transformation, shape the tumor microenvironment, and influence therapeutic responses; 2) investigating gene regulatory programs co-opted by cancer cells throughout tumor progression and metastasis, and 3) identifying dependencies and targetable features of lung cancers harboring specific mutations in chromatin regulators. To this end, we use a combination of genetically engineered mouse models, organoids, and patient-derived samples and leverage cutting-edge approaches in gene editing, organoid technologies, and various -omics.
The candidate will train in a highly supportive and collaborative research environment in the vibrant scientific environment at Columbia University which includes the Department of Molecular Pharmacology & Therapeutics and the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center. The candidate will work with a growing team of cancer researchers and have the opportunity to attend and present at scientific conferences, interact with industry on projects spanning basic and translational science, mentor students, and engage with the patient community.
We are particularly looking for candidates with training in tumor immunology, immunobiology or epigenomics. This is an ideal position for a recent Ph.D. seeking to gain more experience in cancer research in a supportive environment.
PhD degree; with training experience in tumor immunology, immunobiology or epigenomics.
