One position is now open as a Research Assistant in Stina Wickström group to support laboratory research. The overall focus of the research group is to evaluate and to improve Adoptive T cell Therapy for gynecological cancer and advanced melanoma. The successful candidate will join an enthusiastic team at the Department of Oncology-Pathology, Solna at Karolinska Institutet and support studies in the field of cell-based immunotherapy.
Your mission
The group is focusing on improving and development of T cell products for adoptive T cell therapy for solid tumors, with the focus on cervical-, ovarian cancer and melanoma. This improvement of production platforms, development of new expansion protocols for tumor infiltrating lymphocytes as well as investigation of novel T cell products from blood or CAR-TIL. The group focuses phenotypic and functional analysis of the T cell products. The project will have a special focus on genetically modified T cells and will cover several standard immunological and molecular techniques. In addition to the project, the candidate will have to support the group and other group-members with general tasks, when needed.
The position will be a collaboration between Stina Wickström and Rolf Kiessling, based at Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm/Solna, Sweden. We work in collaboration with academic and industry partners, thus, the candidate will have the opportunity to learn various scientific and technical expertise.
Your profile
We are seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant with a strong desire to support studies focusing on adoptive T cell therapies as a treatment option for solid cancers.
- The candidate applying must have a Master's degree in immunology, biomedicine, cell biology or a related discipline.
- Some knowledge of immunology and experience with some of the relevant experimental approaches (e.g. preclinical human sample processing, ELISA, IncuCyte, flow cytometry, primary tumor cell culturing in 2D and 3D) is required.
- Experience with genetic modification and T cell expansions is considered an advantage.
Emphasis will be placed on personal suitability and compatibility with lab members. Applicants must have good communication skills in English and ability to collaborate and work productively in a team.
