mRNA Science Co-op

🏛️ Beamtherapeutics 📍 Cambridge, MA 🗓️ Posted 21 hours, 31 minutes ago

About this role

Company Overview:

Beam Therapeutics is a biotechnology company committed to establishing the leading, fully integrated platform for precision genetic medicines. To achieve this vision, Beam has assembled a platform with integrated gene editing, delivery and internal manufacturing capabilities. Beam’s suite of gene editing technologies is anchored by base editing, a proprietary technology that is designed to enable precise, predictable and efficient single base changes, at targeted genomic sequences, without making double-stranded breaks in the DNA. This has the potential to enable a wide range of therapeutic editing strategies that Beam is using to advance a diversified portfolio of base editing programs. Beam is a values-driven organization committed to its people, cutting-edge science, and a vision of providing life-long cures to patients suffering from serious diseases.

Position Overview:

Beam is looking for a highly motivated co-op student to join our mRNA Science Team from January to June of 2027. The co-op will assist in screening different sequences of mRNA and chemical modification to enhance the quality of mRNA used across multiple programs. Specifically, this role will involve performing and optimizing in vitro transcription (IVT) reactions and running biochemical assays to characterize the mRNA products. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, persistent, highly organized, and enjoys hands-on laboratory work. This position will involve testing multiple mRNA samples using established experimental workflows and generating high-quality data to support mRNA research efforts. The co-op will gain exposure to a broad range of molecular biology and cell-based techniques while working closely with scientists across multiple teams.
