Job Description

AbbVie Process Chemistry is responsible for the chemical development of AbbVie's clinical candidates. We are looking for a highly motivated Scientist II who can make scientific contributions across synthetic molecule modalities, with a focus on driving the development of peptide programs from pre-clinical through clinical development. The candidate will be an integral part of peptide project teams and would be responsible for developing the synthetic process and executing activities required for drug substance.

Responsibilities

Develop robust synthetic processes, supporting peptide assets and other synthetic molecule modality assets through all phases of development. Participate in project teams towards development and characterization of new assets. Establish, communicate, and execute research plans. Demonstrate the ability to resolve key project hurdles and assumptions by effectively utilizing available information and technical expertise. Proactively seek out new information in the literature and incorporate this into individual project. Interpret results and draw conclusions from experiments, note significant deviations, and propose, design, and execute relevant follow-up experiments. Exhibit high independence and productivity in laboratory research or method development. Seize opportunities to pursue project relevant leads that are in line with the group's strategy. Maintain a high level of productivity in the lab. Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding code of conduct, safety and GXP compliance.

Qualifications

BS, MS, or PhD in Chemistry or a related field and 7+ (BS) or 5+ (MS) years of relevant industrial experience. Experience with GMP manufacturing and peptide process development. The candidate is required to be a strong team player and demonstrate scientific leadership, possessing effective oral and written communication skills for facilitating collaborations with cross-functional process development teams, both within and external to AbbVie.

Compensation

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off (vacation, holidays, sick), medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k) to eligible employees. This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentive programs.

Pay Range

$ 84500 – 162000 USD

Where We Work

Role is exclusively performed at a site or office and onsite presence is required. Employees who are site/office-based and can occasionally perform their role virtually work both in the office and remotely*, following the policies and regulations in place at their location. US Employees must be in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with flexibility to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays. Three days in the office is the minimum; some individuals or teams may require more in-office days due to meetings, business/project needs or their role.
