Summary
Creeping fat (CrF), defined as the hyperplasia of mesenteric adipose tissue surrounding inflamed intestinal segments, is a characteristic pathological feature of Crohn’s disease and is associated with disease progression and postoperative recurrence. To investigate the cellular composition and transcriptional alterations underlying CrF formation, we generated a single-nucleus RNA sequencing atlas of human mesenteric tissues from patients with Crohn’s disease and healthy controls. This dataset includes intestinal creeping fat (ICF) and corresponding intestinal non-inflamed fat (INF) from patients with Crohn’s disease, as well as normal mesenteric tissue (NL) from healthy controls. The data were used to characterize disease-associated changes in mesenteric tissue cell populations and to explore potential cellular and molecular mechanisms involved in CrF formation.
