Evolutionary transcriptomic and cellular specializations within the mammalian striatum

GSE293075 Macaca mulatta; Homo sapiens; Phyllostomus discolor; Pan troglodytes Expression profiling by high throughput sequencing 42 samples 2026/03/27 GPL35714GPL24676GPL30573GPL27943
Summary
In this study we generated and analyzed single-nucleus RNA sequencing (snRNA-seq) of human, chimpanzee, rhesus macaque (this study and GSE167920), marmoset (GSE151761 and GSE165578), bat caudate (CN) and putamen (Pu) separately, ferret caudate (GSE151761), and mouse caudoputamen (C-Pu)(GSE151761) spanning 94 million years of evolution. We identified novel interneuron cell types in bat Pu while uncovering fundamental cellular compositional and transcriptomic differences between primate and non-primate striata.
