Summary
Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is the msot aggressive breast cancer subtype, characterized by the lack of key hormone receptors on tumor cells. As there are limited treatment options for these patients, it is important to further investigate this disease to better understand its mechanisms. In this study, we used an integrated genomics approach to examine the impact of glucose on genes regulated by long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) MIR503HG, which has been known to play an assortment of roles across different cancers. Our RNA-seq analysis of MIR503HG-overexpressing TNBC cells exposed to diverse glucose conditions revealed significant differences in regulation of genes associated with key biological processes. Analysis of gene subsets specific to various glucose environments identified clinical outcomes for breast cancer patients across different molecular subtypes. Our results suggest lncRNA MIR503HG could potentially be a therapeutic target in the treatment of TNBC.
