Summary
We devised a microphysiological system (MPS) coupling comBOs (combined bone and bone marrow organoids) and VCOs (vascularised cardiac organoids), enabling the recruitment of immune cells to VCOs follwing ischemic injury. Ischemia was modelled by exposing VCOs to hypoxic culture conditions (1% O2 for 24 hrs) before co-culture in our MPS. single nuclear RNA-sequencing was used to assess fibrosis and immune cell infiltration after cardiac injury.
