Harnessing the Innate Tropism of Migratory Interneuron Precursors as a Neuron-Based Therapeutic Platform to Treat Glioblastoma

GSE316559 Homo sapiens Expression profiling by high throughput sequencing 21 samples 2026/03/09 GPL24676
Summary
We found that transplanted post-mitotic Migratory Inhibitory Interneuron Precursors (MIPs), which are currently in clinical trial for refractory epilepsy, are chemoattracted to glioblastoma and can be modified to deliver therapeutic proteins that greatly enhance survival of xenografted mice. Engrafted MIPs position themselves at the tumor-brain interface in multiple models of HGG and other brain tumors. We conclude that MIPs can become neuron-based platform for localized, sustained anti-tumor therapy.
