We are looking for a Research Fellow, Wearable robotics and Biomechanics to conduct research and develop innovative robotic technologies for understanding, enhancing, and restoring human movement. The role will focus on wearable robotics, human biomechanics, intelligent sensing and control, and assistive technologies, including exoskeletons, powered prostheses, and balance augmentation systems. The Research Fellow will contribute to high-impact research, lead independent research activities, publish research findings, develop new research directions, and support the growth of the research group.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead independent research in wearable robotics, biomechanics, human movement, and assistive technologies, including developing new research directions and research proposals.
• Develop and validate robotic systems such as wearable exoskeletons, powered prostheses, and balance augmentation systems through computational modelling, system development, and experimental studies.
• Publish and disseminate research findings through high-quality journal and conference publications, presentations, and other scholarly activities.
• Mentor and supervise students and contribute to research collaborations and a productive research environment within the group.

   

   

  Job Requirements:

  • Education qualifications:
    • PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Control Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
    • Candidates who are nearing completion of their PhD may also be considered, subject to completion before the appointment.

       

      • Soft skills:
        • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
        • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an interdisciplinary research environment.
        •  Strong problem-solving skills and initiative in developing new research ideas.

           

          • Hard skills:
            • Strong background in one or more of the following areas: robotics, control, biomechanics, wearable robotics, human movement, sensing, or artificial intelligence.
            • Experience with robotic system development, computational modelling, experimental design, or human-subject experiments.
            • Proficiency in programming and data analysis using MATLAB, Python, C/C++, or equivalent tools.

               

              • Experience:
                • Demonstrated research experience through peer-reviewed publications in relevant fields.
                • Experience in developing and experimentally validating robotic or wearable systems is preferred.
                • Experience in supervising or mentoring students and/or contributing to research proposals is an advantage.

                   

                  • Competencies:
                    • Ability to independently formulate research questions, develop methodologies, and execute research projects.
                    • Ability to integrate knowledge across robotics, biomechanics, sensing, control, and AI.
                    • Ability to analyze experimental data and communicate research findings effectively.
