We are seeking a Research Fellow to join an academic research project on antimicrobial resistance (AMR). The successful candidate will conduct molecular microbiology and biotechnology research to investigate AMR mechanisms and the mobility of resistance genes. The work will combine microbiological and molecular experiments with data analysis to understand resistance phenotypes, genetic determinants, and gene transfer. Candidates with bioinformatics expertise are particularly encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct molecular microbiology and biotechnology experiments related to AMR and gene mobility.
• Perform microbial cultivation, molecular biology, genetic, and antimicrobial susceptibility analyses.
• Analyze experimental results and, where applicable, genomic or other omics datasets.
• Integrate laboratory and computational findings and contribute to manuscripts, reports, and presentations.
• Collaborate with project members and support student mentoring and good research practices.

   

  Job Requirements:

  • PhD in microbiology, molecular microbiology, biotechnology, molecular biology, environmental engineering, bioengineering, or a related field.
  • Strong hands-on experience in microbiology and molecular biology research techniques.
  • Experience in antimicrobial resistance, microbial genetics, gene mobility, or microbial genomics is preferred.
  • Bioinformatics skills, including analysis of genomic/metagenomic/transcriptomic data, would be an advantage.
  • Experience with R, Python, Linux/Unix, sequence-analysis tools, or biological databases is an advantage.
  • Good analytical, scientific writing, communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
  • Entry level candidates with a relevant PhD are welcome to apply.
