Summary
Increasing circulating fibroblast growth factor 21 (FGF21) concentrations may be an appealing strategy to prevent/treat obesity. Herein we identify apoptosis signal regulating kinase 1 (ASK1) as an inducer of hepatic FGF21 production. High fat diet (HFD)-fed liver-specific ASK1 overexpressing mice (ASK1+hep) revealed increased hepatic expression and circulating levels of FGF21.
