Summary
The specific effects of radiotherapy treatment on thyroid physiology remain poorly understood. In our previous work, we characterized thyroid gland organoids grown from isolated mice thyroid cells. Herein, we used this model to investigate the events occurring at 2 days post-irradiation (corresponding to 7-day-old organoids) and at 6 days post-irradiation (corresponding to 11-day-old organoids) using bulk RNA sequencing. To compare the expression profile to an healthy standard sample, 5-day-old organoids (day of irradiation) were used as controls. This analysis outlined key dysregulated pathways activated in thyroid cells with photon exposure.
