Transcriptomic analysis of gastric cancer cells under stress conditions

Summary
Gastric cancer is a highly aggressive malignancy and ranks as the second most prevalent contributor to global cancer-related death. However, the underlying mechanisms regulating gastric cancer progression remain to be determined. To investigate the mechanisms regulating tumorigenesis and aggressiveness, we employed the Illumina HiSeq X Ten as a discovery platform to analyze the transcriptome profiling changes of human gastric cancer AGS cells in response to serum deprivation. The results showed that 1220 and 967 genes were respectively elevated or reduced in AGS cells following serum deprivation. Furthermore, we validated the RNA-seq results by real-time RT-PCR with high identity. Overall, our results provided fundamental information about the transcriptomic changes in response to serum deprivation in human gastric cancer cells, and these findings will help us understand the pathogenesis of gastric cancer progression.
