Summary
We identified a novel short XIST isoform (sXIST) that is expressed in both male and female peripheral glia specifically. To study its functions, we overexpressed a fragment of it in the human HEK293T cell line and performed RNA-seq analysis of the sXIST overexpressing cells and GFP controls. We found that the up-regulated genes were enriched in pathways related to cilia functions and many share miRNA binding sites with the sXIST.
