Summary
Our findings demonstrated that chrysin supplementation improved the impaired cardiac function in DCM mice and alleviated HG-induced damage in AC16 cells. Whole transcriptome sequencing analysis indicated that the cardioprotective effects of chrysin are closely associated with the inhibition of cardiomyocytes ferroptosis. Chrysin treatment attenuated elevated ferroptosis, as evidenced by reduced Fe2+ content and lipid peroxidation levels, enhanced antioxidant capacity and restored expression of SLC7A11 and GPX4.
