Summary
The hypoxic response is influence by both the tissue of origin and local environmental influences, and mediated in large part by the hypoxia-inducible transcription factors HIF-1 and HIF-2. We looked at Panc1 cells, a pancreatic adenocarcinoma cell line, and compared the response to hypoxia in both regular tissue culture media and in pancreatic TIFM (tumor interstitial fluid media), and assessed the degree to which HIF-1 and HIF-2 knockout mediates changes in the hypoxia response.
