Targeting YAP1 Attenuates Persistent Oxidative Stress-Driven Tubular Cell Senescence

GSE333763 Homo sapiens Expression profiling by high throughput sequencing 12 samples 2026/06/03 GPL24676
Summary
Persistent oxidative stress induced by hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) upregulates the expression of YAP1 and triggers cellular senescence in HK-2 (human kidney-2) cells. Conversely, knockdown of YAP1 not only downregulates the Hippo signaling pathway but also suppresses genes involved in extracellular matrix (ECM) reorganization. Furthermore, this YAP1 depletion effectively reduces tubular cell senescence, suggesting that YAP1 acts as a key mediator linking oxidative stress to fibrotic and aging phenotypes in renal tubular cells.
