Summary
Dysregulated tissue-resident macrophages (TRMs) contribute to pathogenesis of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and multiple sclerosis (MS), yet the molecular pathways that regulates TRMs remain unclear. Smurf2 deficiency significantly exacerbates the TRM proliferation in dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced colitis and experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE), leading to augmented autoimmune inflammation.
